The Reality of Staging

Completing my very first home staging project was such an exciting milestone for Key Staging. Seeing everything come together and watching a property transform was incredibly rewarding, but it also gave me a real appreciation for just how much work goes on behind the scenes.

Before this experience, I knew staging required planning and effort, but being hands-on from start to finish really highlighted the level of detail involved. Every piece of furniture, every accessory, and every layout decision plays a role in creating the final look.

The process starts well before installation day. There’s careful planning around the style direction, selecting the right furniture pieces, and making sure everything works cohesively within the space. Then comes the physical side, loading, transporting, unloading, and placing each item with purpose. What might look effortless in photos actually takes hours of coordination and teamwork.

Installation day itself is a big one. It’s not just about placing furniture in a room, it’s about creating balance, flow, and a feeling. Adjusting layouts, stepping back to reassess, and refining the details all take time. Sometimes it’s the smallest touches that make the biggest difference.

And even with all the preparation, there are moments where you realise something is missing. That final layer of styling often means a quick trip to the shops to pick up those extra pieces, whether it’s artwork, cushions, or décor items, to bring the whole look together and complete the space.

What I’ve learnt from my first project is that home staging is truly a combination of creativity and hard work. It’s physical, detailed, and at times fast-paced, but the end result makes it all worthwhile.

Seeing an empty or lived-in space transformed into something fresh, inviting, and market-ready is incredibly satisfying. It reinforces why I started Key Staging in the first place, to help properties reach their full potential and create spaces that buyers can instantly connect with.

This first project is just the beginning, and I’m excited to keep refining my process, growing my inventory, and continuing to bring each home to life.
