Behind the Scenes: Getting Key Staging Up and Running

Starting Key Staging has been such an exciting adventure, but it definitely hasn’t happened overnight. There’s been a lot to plan, organise, and learn along the way, and every step has brought me closer to seeing my vision take shape.

After deciding to take the leap and start my own business, I wanted to make sure Key Staging was built on a strong foundation, professional, reliable, and ready to deliver quality from day one. It’s been a mix of creativity, planning, and plenty hands-on work to get everything in place.

Here’s a look at what I’ve been working on behind the scenes:

  • Business setup: Registering the business, sorting the ABN, and getting all the paperwork in order. It’s not the most glamorous part, but it’s essential for building something solid.

  • Stock and equipment: I made the decision early on to invest in my own furniture and décor rather than hire. This gives me full control over quality, consistency, and availability. I’ve spent countless hours furniture shopping, researching suppliers, and keeping an eye on the latest trends to ensure every piece feels fresh and stylish

  • Research and inspiration: I’ve taken time to study other staging firms, visit display homes, and explore different layouts to see how spaces flow and connect. I’ve also researched ways to maximise style while incorporating lightweight, easy-to-move pieces, because practicality matters just as much as presentation.

  • Tools and systems: From quoting and invoicing software to scheduling tools, I’ve set up systems that keep everything organised and efficient. My background in data management and business organisation has really helped here.

  • Website and social media: Creating an online presence has been a big focus—building the website, setting up social accounts, and sharing what Key Staging is all about. It’s been exciting to see it all come together.

  • Logistics: Behind every beautifully staged home is a lot of planning. I’ve organised storage, transport, and inventory systems to make sure every item is tracked, cared for, and ready for each project.

  • Networking: My husband has been an incredible support, using his connections with builders and property professionals to help open doors and grow the business.

It’s been a lot of work, but each task has brought me closer to launching Key Staging. I’m excited for what’s ahead!
